For me this inspires those last hazy days of summer as autumn begins to approach. Metal buckets of wildflowers in parched yellows, pale green grasses and brown teasels. It looks like what you might see walking along the edge of a field at the end of the summer.
Get this seasonal look
If you want to create some similar and seasonal one of the wonderful flower businesses on the directory will be able to help you. Straw or hay bales could be hired, bought or borrowed from a local farm close to where you’re getting married. We’ve borrowed straw bales before for parties.
You’ll definitely want to cover them with something to protect delicate clothes (and bottoms!) from prickles – blankets or rugs work wonderfully, as do pieces of fabric or hessian tied on, or cushions.
A ceremony outside
As for getting married outdoors in a field like this in England, is sadly not possible at the moment. However, you could choose a venue that gets you as close to this, or you could have a symbolic ceremony led by a celebrant – there is Angie Alexandra who is based in Scotland, Annie Blampied in Sussex, or Hilary Campbell in Dorset. They will be able to work with you to create a meaningful ceremony.
